Three years before next election...

At this time, we have a genuine need to identify, nurture & rally behind honest leaders(i hope we find at least one in current MPs) who are capable enough to take care of people's benefits.. the real need is to find and pose honest, capable & credible candidates as an alternative to the ones we don't want to get elected in next elections.. the best thing to do at this point will be to make a list of all the constituencies and find the candidates from there, who is corrupt and who is honest..no bias for any party, any constituency, any ancestral lineage, any surname, any caste, any religion, any color.. and then ratify those findings with credible evidence in order to let people know actually who can be a candidate to vote.. most of the times people do not exactly know the character, ability and credibility of the candidates.. the focus for next three years should be on whom to vote along with whom to not vote.. for each candidate who contests the election, there should be a "corruption meter" which should tell the reading of how corrupt that candidate is, at least we will be able find the least corrupt ones if not completely honest.. when they file nominations, the part of nomination application should be

"how many cases are registered/pending/ongoing against the candidate",
"how much is the value of corruption being investigated against that candidate",
"how cooperative is he/she with the judiciary",
"what is his/her capability to understand the large scale impact of his corruption",
"how many times did he/she attend the parliament when he was in power earlier"
"how many times was he/she found taking a nap during parliament proceedings"
"how many issues of public interest has he/she put in front of the parliament"
"how many rational arguments has he/she made in front of the house"
"how many bank accounts does he/she have, including foreign bank accounts"
etc. etc.

all this should be on a scale of 1 to 10 so that it would be easier to compare two candidates, who gets 9.9 in corruption and who gets 9.8.. and who gets 1.2. A candidate with 1.2 in corruption may be better than the one with 9.9.. Educated voters need such meters to understand who can be a better alternative to the incumbent, otherwise there is no other way of knowing the real worth of my vote..each individual who is against corruption should try to at least find out who are all the choices in front of him/her. Forget about any specific party, just vote the candidate who you think is honest, no matter his party comes to power at center or not... Even a single honest MP can change the whole parliament if he gets elected, and gets to attend the parliament.. I think we worry a lot about party politics and forget that those who are not in ruling party can actually do a better job at ensuring zero corruption by keeping those in power in check.

Hi.
I liked your article very much but with some shortcomings in it.
1.Whatever you are suggesting is NOT possible even in the most developed nations like USA/UK.
Your suggestions are not irrational but impractical.
2.NOT A SINGLE PERSON IS SUFFICIENT,NOR IS THIS A GOOD START EVEN. Reason? I'm NEPHEW [elder sister's elder son] to HON.R.R.PATIL SAHEB---THE MOST POPULAR MINISTER OF MAHARASHTRA,FOR WHATEVER GOOD HE HAS DONE AS A MINISTER.And we,the family members know how painful experiences he's and we've gone through whenever he's tried to do some reforms;be it banning the dance bars in Mumbai or removing an interview part-in wholesome-from police recruitment examinations [anyone can guess that the oral exams are the part where there are more chances of frauds--so removing those has angered not only politicians but IPS Officers too!] and many more works like starting Sant Gadagebaba Gram Swachata Abhiyan [when he was The Minister for Rural Development,Water Supply ans Sanitation],for which Government-neither the State nor the Central-was ready and did not spend a single rupee;but was upheld and embraced widely by the people of Maharashtra and acclaimed by the UNESCO and UNO.
He's always tried and done to the largest extent good for the people of this state but was not backed initially by his own Govt.
3.Even after doing all this,do you think it was easy for him to claim victory in elections over his rivals who are still known to be arrogant, rash, insensitive and corrupt?
NOT ONLY ANNA HAJARE BUT ALSO MEDHA PATKAR HAD CAMPAIGNED FOR HIM [he being the only minister to have received such a privilege],but even then his margin of victory reduced from 36000 in earlier election to 6500 now.
4.Leaders do not fall from the skies for they are chosen and elected by the same society he/she belonged to. Why blame only leaders when we ourselves are at the greatest fault?
5.People never recognise the public works e.g.building a school, building a water tank in water-scarce areas etc.,they only think that MLAs and MPs are their for employing their children or siblings somewhere in a govt.job.
I MAY INFORM YOU THAT BY THE LATER WAY PEOPLE SUPPORT YOU FOR THE LIFETIME AND BY THE FORMER WAY NO ONE IS THERE TO HELP THE LEADER !!!
Understand this before suggesting such ways.
6.The so called middle class is so much insensitive that they don't even bother to vote in the elections.

ANYWAYS,I'M NOT A PESSIMIST BUT I ALWAYS PREFER TO LET MY BRAIN WORK FOREFRONT THAN MY HEART.

Thanks for the comment Amit, I am not denying that there are good people on both sides.. you can read this post: http://prashdazz.blogspot.com/2011/08/threadbare-of-addressing-corruption.html

And also this one: http://prashdazz.blogspot.com/2011/06/game-theory-application-to-bribing.html

I am not blaming politicians only, I am blaming our system.

since politicians are in control, they have higher responsibility to be accountable to people. of course, people have to be accountable to themselves as well. But, if the headmaster himself is spoiled, then the kids are going to be spoiled.. similarly, if police is corrupt, public will be corrupt.. similarly, if CM is corrupt, the public does not have any choice but to be corrupt. so, it is important to control who gets elected. but, here the election process itself is corrupt, who will cleanse it?
